I wanted to share the story of my bird, Mango, that happened during Covid in 2020. I usually let her out to fly around in the room since I don't like keeping her caged all the time. One day I forgot to close the back yard door while Mango was still roaming around the house, when I saw her, she was standing on the door frame. one step and she's out. I slowly moved towards the door hoping she wouldn't move. But she did, flapped her wings and out she goes. I was devastated thinking there's no way I'm getting her back. I watched as she jumped from roof to roof and house to house. Leaving my sight for sometimes tens of minutes as the only way I know she's here is her chirp. She flew off to a tree near a construction sight. I watched her, and I know she saw me. I kept calling her name, until she flew right over above me. At that moment I knew she wanted the freedom and to see the world outside her little cage. I wanted that for her too, but I know she wont live pass the next day. After nearing 6 hours of chasing, she slowed down, until I was so close. I brought the cage alone with food and water, and just sat and waited. She jumped from branch to branch until she landed on the cage, and went in herself, definitely thirsty. Sometimes chasing for freedom isnt the safest option, but it sure gets you the best views.
